Web Design Importance

Web Design Importance
August 04, 2019

Back in the day, a website wasn’t deemed to be necessary for business. It was even sometimes considered to be a waste of resources as not a lot of people had access to the internet. But now, the internet is teeming and crawling with life and has become an integral part in our lives.

A website is now mandatory for every business to even have a chance of surviving. Why you may ask? Because more and more people spend their lives on the internet, and your website will often be the first point of interaction for your audience and your brand.

So if you’re looking to start your website, then you should consider the following importance of a web design.

To set a first impression

As soon as your webpage loads, it’ll take as quick as .5 seconds for your audience to form an opinion of your website, and you want that opinion to be a good one for them to stick around. That’s one way of potentially creating a business.

A website should immediately tell a user what you and your brand is all about. If you fail to deliver that information to the user and fail to capture their attention, your web design has already failed.

Accessibility and Usability

Web design will have a huge impact on how accessible your website is for visitors. A good web design will allow the users to find what they need immediately, otherwise you’ll frustrate and discourage your users and potentially losing a business opportunity.

Most users tend to look for product or service information, how to contact you, and what your brand is all about, a good web design will display all that information on the main page rather than require a few clicks to arrive to that.

Even if your webpage functions at a 100% but is still badly designed, it makes it feel clunky and hard to use, and that’s a no go in today’s age. People like convenience, and having to look for information or having to require a few clicks isn’t convenient.

Conversion

On your website, you can guide a user’s eye to where you want them to look. You can draw them to a brand new special offer that you have, or a brand new product, highlight any call to action, and more.

In a site like Amazon, you may be overwhelmed with different information thrown at you such as product description and a picture, but there’s one thing that will always stand out amongst the black and white color, the huge yellow “Add to Cart Button”. That’s one way of utilizing and using a good web design.

Brand Professionalism and Trust

We’re all guilty of this, we judge the credibility of one’s business or services through their web design. An updated and well maintained website will always encourage trust as opposed to clunky and messy websites, that’ll just show the users that the owner or business doesn’t care about their users, and sometimes makes your user doubt your legitimacy.

One way of utilizing your website is to put up your credentials, experiences, expertise, and costumer reviews.  Another way would be to create brand consistency and to create familiarity, this is useful especially to those who have a well-established brand already. If you are one, then it’s more than likely that your customers will recognize your brand, and having that on your website assures them that they are in the right place.

SEO

If you think that a good web design is just about visual elements, then you’re severely mistaken. Websites have been vying for a top spot on search engines for quite some time now, and a badly coded and designed website will not help with that.

A good web design implements SEO strategies on your website to be able to push out content through various social media, and as a result, will improve your SEO standing. It may be confusing to understand if you’re new to web design, but in simple terms, your code needs to be SEO friendly.

If you fail on this aspect of web design, you are already at an uphill battle for visibility right from the get go.
