Unfortunately for many business owners, they see no point in paying extra for a professional website design. Okay, I get it – you’ve already spent money just creating your website in the first place.  It's up and running (kind of), so why would you need to spend MORE money on web design? Well, good question. But the thing is, if you want to become successful in your field, you have to put in the extra effort, and sometimes that means calling a professional – especially  for something as important as web design.

And when I say important, I mean it. If you’re going to take a look at the successful companies that have established an audience through their website, you can see that they have definitely put in more effort than usual.

Looks are everything, as shallow as it may seem.  When it comes to your website, it shows how much you really care. I’m pretty sure you know what I mean – people would appreciate your site much more if they can clearly see that the site is professionally made, and there was a lot of effort put in it.  The care is in the details that make the website easier to use, visually appealing, and the layouts logical.

Do you know why? Well, it’s an indicator that you’re actually sincere with that you are doing. These days, there are a lot of sites that do not think twice about going live with their crappy design.

Here’s a tip: don’t be like them, you are not doing your business any favors. As a matter of fact, you are ruining your chances of getting clients, and you are completely wasting your time.

So, with that being said, you have to get rid of the mindset that as long as the website is working, it’s completely okay. To be honest, it’s far from that.

Although in my other posts I keep talking about how awesome it is that we’re able to do so much more with the help of the internet, we can’t deny that people are also thinking the same thing.

In other words, there are A LOT more entrepreneurs now than before. It may sound awesome, but I beg to differ. It also means that you have a lot of competition ahead of you.

You can’t be winning the game if you’re lagging behind. Even if you ARE ahead of your competitors, there are still businesses that are earning higher profits than you are. At the same time, there are a lot of fresh, young businessmen who are trying to overtake you.

With that being said, you have to step up your game and make sure that you’re also improving every single day, and you can do so by starting with your online presence.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that everything about your website must be fancy and expensive.  That isn't what we're trying to do here.  What you need is to make sure that your website looks professional and presentable. It should be able to showcase what you’re trying to stand for as a business owner.

In any case, let's take a look at some points of website design.  Afterwards, you might want to check your current site and decide to start doing things differently.

First thing’s first, you want your site to be easily navigated. In addition, its usability should be spot-on. You should get all of the valuable information that your client needs to know on your site, and it’s genuinely presented in a clear and well-written manner.

However, it doesn’t matter how much time you have spent making the site look like it’s Wikipedia if your guests aren’t able to find out the information that they are looking for. Users want everything to be convenient and easy to find. If they think that your site is too confusing to use, then don’t expect them to stick around.  Chances are they’re going to leave and find a new website from your competitor to find the information.

So, navigation really is a big factor. It’s quite common for business owners to complicate a website when they try to make it look professional on their own. Be mindful that things you might think are helpful may actually be distracting or difficult for your visitors.

These days people's attention span is short, and it doesn’t exclude your audience. They want everything to be quick, precise, and all ready to go.

Now that all is said and done, you already know what to do. Stay clean, and always try to provide them with the information they are looking for when they visit your website.   Make the change today, and be something different for your audience.  Better.

Bottom line, your website appearance is the make it or break it moment for your clients.
